Chelsea Football Club has taken a bold step regarding its roster ahead of the 2025/26 season. Nine players have been removed from their official website.
The move has sparked questions about their future. It comes as new manager Enzo Maresca begins a massive overhaul of the squad.
Despite being under contract, these players have been frozen out. It’s a clear message, they are no longer part of the club’s plans.
Since arriving in 2024, Maresca has made sweeping changes. His goal is simple: trim the bloated squad and bring in fresh energy.
So far, Chelsea have already sold or released eight first-team players. Notable names include Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, and Kepa Arrizabalaga. More exits are expected before the transfer window closes.
Now, removing players from the online roster sends a stronger message. The club is showing who is out of favour — and possibly on the way out.
The 9 players removed from Chelsea’s website
Raheem Sterling is one of the biggest names missing. Once a star for Liverpool and Manchester City, his Stamford Bridge future now looks bleak.
Armando Broja and Lesley Ugochukwu are also off the list. Both are reportedly close to joining Burnley.
Ben Chilwell, a £45 million signing from Leicester in 2020, has also vanished from the page. Reports say Maresca has sidelined him.
Others missing include defender Axel Disasi, new boy Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka, and striker David Datro Fofana. The Mirror confirmed their exclusion.
Is Mudryk part of the list?
Interestingly, Mykhailo Mudryk is still listed on the club’s website. But he’s pictured in last season’s kit, the only one in that attire.
Mudryk is facing a potential four-year ban. He reportedly failed an anti-doping test in November. He hasn’t played since. But the Ukrainian insists he didn’t knowingly take a banned substance.
With Mudryk currently sidelined, Chelsea are short on wide options. Noni Madueke and Joao Felix have already been sold. That left gaps on the flanks.
To fix that, the Blues moved quickly in the transfer market. They signed Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. Additionally, the FIFA Club World Cup champions have also added Estevao Willian from Palmeiras. The Brazilian is one of the most exciting teenage talents around.
Both arrivals offer fresh energy out wide as Chelsea reshape their attack under Enzo Maresca.
