Real Madrid icon Iker Casillas has been dealt a painful personal blow after uncovering a shocking theft inside his own home — one allegedly carried out by his longtime housekeeper and her husband, a security guard.
The pair is accused of stealing five of Casillas’ prized luxury watches worth around €50,000, replacing them with counterfeit replicas to cover their tracks.
Iker Casillas endures betrayal from his staff in calculated theft case
For years, Casillas — one of football’s most respected figures and a legend for both Real Madrid and Spain’s national team — placed his trust in the people who worked closest to him. That trust was shattered when he began noticing subtle discrepancies in his prized watch collection.
According to Diario de Sevilla, the theft was carefully orchestrated and executed over time to avoid immediate suspicion.
Casillas’ assistant, who had worked for him for several years, allegedly swapped the authentic watches for high-quality fakes, ensuring the collection appeared untouched.
At first, Casillas had no reason to suspect wrongdoing. His busy professional schedule meant he was often away from his Madrid home, located in La Finca, one of the city’s most exclusive and secure residential areas — home to many of Spain’s top athletes and celebrities.
But as inconsistencies mounted, the former World Cup-winning captain took a closer look. His suspicions deepened, leading him to file a formal complaint with Spain’s National Police on October 16.
Police uncover inside job
Investigators moved swiftly, and within days, the shocking truth emerged: the alleged culprits were the housekeeper and her husband, who had access both inside Casillas’ home and within the gated community’s security system.
The Paraguayan domestic worker and her Spanish husband had allegedly used their inside knowledge to plan the thefts meticulously, gradually swapping genuine timepieces for counterfeits to delay discovery.
Police sources described the plot as “calculated and deliberate,” noting that the thieves didn’t simply take the items — they replaced them to buy time before escaping. But their plan unraveled before they could leave the country.
On October 21, just five days after Casillas’ report, authorities detained the couple in Madrid. So far, two of the stolen watches have been recovered, while three others, each worth between €8,000 and €15,000, remain missing.
Casillas remains calm amid investigation
Despite the unsettling ordeal, Casillas has maintained his composure. Speaking briefly to Spanish media, the 43-year-old reassured fans that he was in good spirits and confident in the authorities’ work.
“I’m doing very well, I’m calm, and everything is fine. The police are handling everything,” Casillas said, as quoted by GOAL.
The investigation continues as police work to trace the missing watches and uncover whether others may have been involved.
For a man who built his career on trust, precision, and composure, this episode marks one of the rare moments where Casillas’ famous calm has been tested — not on the pitch, but within the walls of his own home.
